Dancing in the Vortex: The Magic of KoDance

Last night’s full moon was a reminder of the extraordinary power of energy. The moon, our planet, and even our bodies are part of an intricate web of movement and flow—what some might call an energetic vortex. Yesterday morning, during a KoDance workshop, I witnessed something that left me in awe and deeply inspired. Thirty participants gathered in a shared rhythm, and in that sacred space, I felt the creation of an energetic vortex so powerful, it seemed to transform the room into a portal for healing and profound personal transformation.

This phenomenon isn’t new. Around the world, energetic vortices exist in places like Sedona, Machu Picchu, and Glastonbury. These are locations where the Earth’s energy feels palpable, swirling with a magnetism that many believe can inspire clarity, healing, and spiritual awakening. But here’s the beautiful part: these energetic vortices aren’t just limited to geographic locations. They can be created through movement, intention, and connection—in the body and the spaces we dance in.

During the KoDance workshop, we began as we always do: gently, gradually warming up our bodies, letting the music and movement unlock tension and create flow. The first two-thirds of a class are about preparation—opening the body, grounding into the space, and connecting to our fellow dancers. As we move together, something shifts. The room fills with trust, safety, and openness.

Then, the magic begins.

As the group danced together in a counterclockwise circle, I could feel the energy building, like a whirlpool gathering strength. With everyone’s bodies open and their hearts aligned, the space became charged. When someone stepped into the middle of the circle, fully present and ready to receive, something profound occurred. Their movement wasn’t just about expression—it became a declaration, an intention, an offering. And in return, they were gifted with a wave of energy from the group that seemed to envelop and uplift them.

In that moment, the circle became an energetic vortex, a living, breathing field of transformation. The person in the center wasn’t just dancing—they were being held, seen, and empowered by the group’s collective energy. It was as if the vortex amplified their intention and sent it spiraling out into the universe, creating a shift in them that was palpable.

This is the essence of KoDance: preparing the body, spirit, and mind to be open to these moments of magic. By the time we reach this part of the workshop, the preparation has dissolved barriers—physical, emotional, and energetic. The group becomes a tribe, the music becomes a guide, and the movement becomes medicine. Together, we create a space where transformation isn’t just possible—it’s inevitable.

Reflecting on this experience, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. KoDance isn’t just about dance. It’s about creating opportunities for people to connect to themselves, to each other, and to the greater energy that flows through us all. It’s about the joy of movement and the profound power of being seen and supported. And it’s about the alchemy that happens when intention, energy, and community come together in one beautiful, swirling vortex.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience this kind of energetic awakening, I invite you to step into the circle. There’s a place for you here, where movement becomes magic, and magic becomes transformation. Together, we’ll prepare, open, and receive the gifts waiting for us in the dance.
